1.8 percent of the total population of the Gaza Strip has been killed in the ongoing attacks by Israeli forces, according to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics of Palestine, as reported by Al-Jazeera.

The conflict began on October 7 of the previous year when Hamas, a Gaza-based Palestinian armed organization, launched an attack on Israel. In retaliation, Israeli forces have been carrying out indiscriminate attacks on Gaza since that date, with the violence continuing to this day.

According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, 1.8 percent of Gaza's total population has been killed by Israeli forces during the conflict, which has now lasted more than 10 months. Approximately 75 percent of the fatalities were individuals under the age of 30.

The Gaza Health Ministry reports that at least 39,790 Palestinians have died in the ongoing conflict, with around 92,000 others injured.

The United Nations estimates that nearly 1.9 million people have been displaced internally due to the conflict.

The United States, Egypt, and Qatar are working to mediate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. These countries have recently called for talks to be held on August 15, with potential locations for the discussions including Doha or Cairo.

US President Joe Biden has expressed hope that a ceasefire in Gaza is achievable before the end of his presidential term.
