After the victory of Nicolas Maduro in the presidential election in Venezuela, there are massive protests in the country. Criticism is going on in the country and abroad that the election has been rigged. In such a situation, President Maduro called on the "state forces" to be tough.
Opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez has claimed a landslide victory since last July's election. But the result has been changed by rigging. So far 25 people have died in the ongoing protests. More than 2 thousand people have been arrested.
However, Maduro blamed the opposition for the protests and deaths. He said at a meeting of the Defense Council of the Venezuelan government last Monday, "I demand from all the powers of the state - that they take very fast, competent and strict measures against crime, violence and hatred."
Meanwhile, amid the protests and violence across Venezuela, International Criminal Court Chief Counsel Karim Khan said he was "actively monitoring" the situation in Venezuela after receiving multiple reports of intense violence and other allegations.
