Noah Lyles interrupted an interview to celebrate with Armand Duplantis after his gold medal win in pole vaulting at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Forget sportsmanship; it was pure bromance when U.S. sprinter Noah Lyles crashed the interview of Sweden’s Armand Duplantis after Duplantis won gold in the pole vault at the Paris 2024 Olympics on August 5. The 24-year-old Swede clinched the title with a vault of 6.00 meters, then broke the Olympic Record with 6.10 meters and topped it with a World Record clearance of 6.25 meters. During Duplantis's interview about his remarkable achievements, Lyles couldn’t resist joining in to celebrate with him.
“All-star, let’s go!” cheered Noah Lyles as he embraced Armand Duplantis. The U.S.-born Swede, visibly moved, beamed with joy as Lyles congratulated him on his achievements.
“You know, this is the first time I’ve ever seen you attempt it in person,” Lyles told the 24-year-old. In a heartfelt moment, Lyles added, “I love you, man; you’re amazing,” before stepping aside to let Duplantis finish his media duties.
When asked what it meant to celebrate a world record with someone like Lyles, Duplantis responded, “I don’t think I can sum it up just yet.”
“It’s crazy. I always believed in myself and thought I could do it, and there was no better time than now. The stadium was so wild and so loud,” he said. “It was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. I did it. I really did it.”
