The answer to this question lies in the traditional politics of the BJP. The decision is clear to protect the party which is ruling under the banner of radical Hinduism. Although there is doubt as to how much work will be done as a result of the formation of the committee comprising the officers of the Eastern Command of BSF and the land border authorities of East India including West Bengal, Tripura, it is clear that the BJP is trying to smear the Hindu mind through this announcement. I want to assure you. It was imperative for them to do this; Because, their party in East India has been continuously pressuring the government to stop the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh. Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) general secretary Dattatroy Hosable has even issued a statement demanding the government to take action.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tried to reassure the Hindu core vote bank in this way before. But that may not have been enough. After taking oath as the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, Nobel laureate economist In his congratulatory message to Muhammad Yunus, Modi also reminded of the security of minorities. Earlier, however, the Ministry of External Affairs of India expressed its concern and welcomed the efforts of the Muslim community of Bangladesh to protect Hindu interests and protect Hindu families and places of worship. Many political leaders of India including Shashi Tharoor, Jairam Ramesh have expressed concern as well as praised the initiative. But despite this, the central government's initiative to form the committee shows that the BJP is very uncomfortable.
There is, however, another reason for the BJP's uneasiness. The main reason is not having a single majority in Parliament. Co-dependent governance. From the beginning, the BJP leadership has wanted to prove that the government is not weak even if it is dependent. In various ways, they will not deviate from the glory and prestige with which they have run the government for 10 years. That trend will continue. To prove it, they have kept all the important ministries to themselves. The offices that the top leaders were in charge of have been kept in their hands. They did not even change the two Speakers of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Even though the monsoon session is over, the Lok Sabha has not yet decided to elect the Deputy Speaker. This post is vacant for more than five years. The use of the opposition in the House of Parliament is still going on. But still BJP cannot rest easy. At the beginning of the third term, the controversial Waqf Amendment Bill was sent for consideration by the Joint Parliamentary Committee. In the last 10 years, the BJP has not sent a single bill to the Joint Parliamentary Committee except the National Register of Citizens (2016) and the Information Protection Bill (2019). This time he did it, since there was a question about this within the partner party.
The BJP's uneasiness has become more pronounced in the face of resistance from the combined opposition forces in Parliament. They are apparently embarrassed to run the Parliament. Opposition complains that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar are not giving enough opportunities this time as before. Narendra Modi was accused of violating the right of assembly, but the Speaker of the Lok Sabha did not comment on the matter even after the monsoon session ended. However, in the last Lok Sabha, he did not delay in dismissing Congress's Rahul Gandhi and Trinamool Congress's Mahua Maitra as MPs. Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly complained of his mic being switched off. They alleged that their statements were unfairly excluded from the minutes of the meeting. Protested not to say. Two sessions of the new parliament have passed but not a single adjournment motion has been taken to discuss important issues. The way the opposition alliance 'India' moved in and out of Parliament in protest has added to the BJP's uneasiness.
Due to this discomfort, the monsoon session of the Parliament was closed three days ago. The session, which was supposed to last until next Monday, was adjourned last Friday. For that reason, if it is implemented, it will be an unprecedented event in the parliamentary history of India. Clearly the BJP wants to avoid that irony.
The opposition's anger is with Rajya Sabha Chairman Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
The opposition alleged that Dhankhar's behavior was becoming 'out of proportion' for some time. Word by word he was preventing the opposition from saying. He was reminding the matter of maintaining the modesty of the meeting. The statements of the opposition were excluded from the minutes. The mic was turning off. He was reprimanding members by name for unnecessary reasons. It peaked on Friday. Pointing at the opposition, the speaker said, 'You do not respect the constitution and democracy. You want to destabilize the country.' Fed up with Dhankhar's behavior, Samajwadi Party member Jaya Bachchan once said, 'I am a performer. I know body language and speech. I can read it. The manner in which you are speaking is not acceptable.' Jaya Bachchan also said, 'Here we are all one. No one is a schoolboy. You are the director of the meeting, but you are also one of us.'
Without letting Jaya say anything else, Dhankhar vented his anger. Addressing Jaya, he said, 'Actors act
according to the instructions of the director. I don't need to be taught. Are you questioning my posture?' All the opposition left the room amid this debate. Congress leader Sonia Gandhi led the walkout. Outside the meeting, Jaya told the media that Dhankhar insulted the MPs. He should apologize.
After this incident, the India Alliance took the initiative to move a no-confidence motion against Dhankhar. 87 members signed the proposal. It was at this time that the top BJP leadership decided that Parliament would be closed indefinitely on Friday itself. The BJP did not want the opposition to submit a notice of removal of the Rajya Sabha chairman on Monday. If that were to happen, it would be a first in the parliamentary history of India.
Apparently, the BJP and the government are under a lot of pressure in Narendra Modi's third term in power. The formation of a committee to protect the Hindu community of Bangladesh is to reduce that pressure. Because of that pressure, the session of the parliament was postponed. It is because of that pressure that the government has withdrawn from the path of financial reform that has been said for so long. Despite talking about bank privatization for so long, the government backed away from it on Friday. Although the Bank Act Amendment Bill was introduced, it did not mention privatization.
How many days can Narendra Modi run like this? The question is being discussed in political circles and social media.
